What is Multitudes?

Multitudes is an experimental arts-education incubator for the Studio of Eler de Grey: part studio log, part living archive, and part gathering place. We built Multitudes as a semi-walled garden—somewhere to follow the work as it unfolds, read the writing that surrounds it, and be in conversation with a small community of people who care about the arts, the humanities, and one another.

Why a paid membership?

Limiting engagement through paid admission lets the space grow slowly, more intimately, and without external pressures. To be explicit, this is NOT paid access to Eler de Grey and the work. This is simply a way to be part of something new, and to support the work the artist will do with or without us.

Do you offer discounts to teachers & students?

Who is Eler de Grey?

Eler de Grey is an American artist and writer living in Los Angeles. Originally known for dreamlike, highly-rendered oil paintings, her practice has grown to encompass sculpture, photography, and writing across diverse media. Multitudes is the incubator for her studio’s educational mission.

Why not use Substack or Patreon?

Platforms built for scale and engagement metrics shape the work to fit the platforms. Multitudes is built to be the opposite — a space the studio owns and tends directly, without algorithms or feeds optimized to addict anybody nor a third party owning the relationship between the studio and its members. It's a smaller, more deliberate room—by design.
